Located in the 7th district of Erzsebetvaros, the hostel, located on the Pest side of central Budapest, is the first property of the European a&o chain in Hungary.
The challenge Quadrature took on as part of the design and build service was to adapt a 100+ year old educational building to function as temporary accommodation. Both Budapest’s District 7 and the building itself are under strict conservation protection, which required a series of studies, expert assessments, compromises and technological solutions that would respect the history and the site, while meeting the investor’s expectations. The result of the joint efforts of architects and engineers is the a&o Hostel Budapest City, attractively located in the heart of the vibrant Hungarian metropolis. The hostel consists of 114 modern single, double, family and multi-bedded rooms. The building has been adapted for the disabled by installing lifts in the courtyard in glass tubes, creating a modern and elegant blend of tradition and contemporary design. The avant-garde atmosphere of the neighbourhood is identical to the character of the brand and has been reflected in the comfortable yet modern rooms and common spaces.
An undeniable asset of the development is the beautifully restored green courtyard, which attracts not only guests but also tourists.
